Go shopping for a good cause!

August 27, 2009

We are less than two weeks away from opening the House at Serenity Pointe, our new residential recovery program for women with life-disrupting issues. We welcome our first residents on Sept. 7. This is your chance to go shopping for a good cause! We still need a few household items (like a microwave, extra sheets, and towels) and some crucial supplies (like toilet paper, soap, and cleaning items) to get us ready for the big day. The complete list is on our website: click here. Can you help us out? Email Charli at charliwyatt (at) gmail.com, or call her 423-447-7932 for more information.

Your Help Is Urgently Needed

August 1, 2009

Dear Friends,

I am writing with a plea for immediate help. Serenity Pointe is running low on funds. The cost of renovating the new program house while providing services to those in need is outstripping donations. Though we have been blessed by tremendous generosity from local businesses and volunteers, our cash donations in June and July were less than half of what we normally receive.

We cannot afford for August to follow suit. To stay on track, we need to raise $7,803 by August 10.

If you’ve been thinking about giving to Serenity Pointe but hadn’t quite gotten around to it yet, now is most definitely the time. If you can give a little more, it’s needed now more than ever.

For details about how you can donate online or through the mail, visit our website.

This money isn’t just for drywall mud, duct tape, and utility bills. Even though the house itself has been closed, we have kept the doors of our ministry open to those in need. We receive call after call from people struggling to cope with the economic downturn, domestic abuse, chemical dependency, and other challenges.

And we respond.

Every penny you give goes directly to helping those in need. We don’t pay staff with your money. If you cannot give at this time, we will be most grateful for your prayers.

If you have any questions or ideas, don’t hesitate to contact me at 423-991-2525, or debbie (-at-) serenitypointe.org.

Sincerely,

Debbie Morrison
Executive Director
Serenity Pointe

Thank You, Lee Station Baptist Church

June 24, 2009

We’re grateful to Lee Station Baptist Church in Pikeville for hosting a housewarming shower for us on June 14. This was a great way to kick off our search for the household goods we’ll need when we open our renovated house facility! If you couldn’t come, don’t worry – we’ll still gladly accept any donations. Click here to see our updated wishlist. Thank you!

Wanted: construction materials for house renovations!

May 13, 2009

UPDATE: Some very generous donors have stepped forward to help us cross items off our construction wish list! We’d like to thank A-1 Building Supply in Kimball for the tub, toilets, primer, windows, and faucets. Thanks to Home Depot for wiring, recitals, and five gallons of paint! We’re grateful to John Morrison for sheet rock and screws. Collins Building Supply and Habitat for Humanity have each supplied us with a door.

Think you can help us, too? Great! Check the updated list on the website to see what we still need. Thank You!!

[Original Post] We’re building out the basement at the new house to make room for more residents. Do you have construction materials that you can donate, or can you help us find what we’re looking for? We’d be very grateful.  For a list of what we need, please see the Wish List on our website. Many thanks!
